The retired professor of the Faculty of Economics, Josep Sorribes passed away last 30 January at dawn, at the age of 72. 

Besides his academic activity, Sorribes was Head of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València from June 1997 to April 2016, as well as head of the Centre of European Documentation from 1994 to 2016.

As an author of reference works, one of the greatest experts in the field of economy and urban sociology, and a dedicated scholar, Sorribes’ loss leaves an irreplaceable emptiness within the core of the university institution. At the General Foundation, we join in this feeling of mourning and loss.

Sorribes leaves a legacy of prolific academic and research work for posterity. His character has harboured deep feelings of affection and respect, which will forever remain in our memory.
