The writers Isabel Clara-Simó and Santiago Posteguillo participate this week in the Escola Europea de Pensament Lluís Vives of the Universitat de València with a conference and a seminar that will take place at the Cultural Centre La Nau on 29 and 30 March.

Next Wednesday, 29 March, the author from Alcoi will give the conference ‘¿Qué es el feminismo?’ (What is feminism?) at Aula Magna. It is an event organised together with Reading and Writing Club of the Universitat de València. The admission is free.

Isabel-Clara Simó, regarded as one of the most important modern authors of Catalan literature, has been recognised with the Award of Honour of Catalan Literature for her huge work that has been shaped during decades since she won the Victor Català Award for her first book ‘És quan miro que hi veig clar’ in 1978. Since then, she has published about 50 works of different genres: novel, short story, narrative for teenagers, theatre, poetry, radio and TV scripts, compilations of articles, essay and commemorative prose.  As a journalist, she has managed the weekly publication ‘Canigó’ and collaborates regularly in several written and broadcast media.

On Thursday, 30 March, the writer Santiago Posteguillo will give the conference ‘Cómo escribir y cómo publicar una novela histórica’ (How to write and publish an historical novel).  It will take place at Aulas Seminario, from 11:00 to 13:00h and registration is required by clicking this link.

The author of the trilogy, among other works, will explain the four elements that, in his opinion, are essential to develop an historical novel: “Arquitectura narrativa, superando el síndrome del Capitán Trueno, aprobando el test de Bechdel-Wallace y con un pequeño gran viaje”.

Santiago Postillo was a philologist, linguist, European PhD by the Universitat de València and currently is tenured university professor in Universitat Jaume I of Castellón, where he became director of the HQ of IULMA (Institute for Applied Languages of the Region of Valencia) for many years. Now, he gives lessons in English Language and Literature.  He received, among other recognitions, the Barcino of Historical novel Award of the City Council of Barcelona in 2014. He was also named Honorary Ambassador of the Universitat Jaume I and published ‘La sangre de los libros’, an imaginative book about the history of the literature. The Valencian Government named him Writer of the Year 2015.

The Escola Europea de Pensament Lluís Vives is a cultural project, boosted by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality of the UV, with the management of the General Foundation of the UV, which is configured as a space for reflection and open, participatory and critical debate about current issues at world level and also for the Valencian society.

The Escola also counts on the participation of other individuals of the Public administration and civil society: The President of the Valencian government, the City Hall of Valencia, the Valencian Department of Transparency and Education, Research, Culture and Sports, the Alfons el Magnànim Institute, the Escola Europea d’Humanitats and the Caixa Popular.
