Last Saturday 25 February the Pavilion of the Universitat de València hosted the second session of the Boccia Autonomic League of the Valencian Community. Organised by FESA, with the collaboration of the Universitat de València, through the Physical Education and Sports Service, 37 matches in BC1, BC2, BC3, BC4 and BC5 categories were played, finalising the first phase of the competition in the individual division.

In the current season 60 athletes are taking part: 14 in BC1 category, 17 in BC2 category, 19 in BC3 category, 3 in BC4 category and 7 in BC5, representing the following clubs: Empleo Aspe and CD Apca from Alacant; BAMESAD and Maset de Frater from Castellón; Escuela de FESA, Cruz Roja and Amics de la Boccia from Valencia.

The competition system has been structured in two phases during this season. The first one, in which the preliminary matches in the zone of Alacant and Valencia/Castellón are played, determines the configuration of the competition groups for the second phase, in which the final ranking, sorted by game divisions (Individual / Teams / Pairs BC3) will be established. This ranking opens the access to the classification for the Spanish Boccia Championship, which will take place in Huelva at the end of June.

Six sessions in which 246 matches will be played are organised in this season (from December 2016 to May 2017).

After closing the first phase, the most regular athletes regarding their results, who have won all their matches and have great expectative for this season, are starting to be distinguished: Desiree Segarra (Empleo Aspe) and Rosa Zaballos (Amics de la Boccia) in BC1; Juan Carlos Montezuma (Cruz Roja), Francisco Bautista (Empleo Aspe) and Raúl Martí (Amics de la Boccia) in BC2; and Sergio Sanahuja (BAMESAD), Carlos García (Empleo Aspe), Arnau López (Empleo Aspe) and Iván Alemany (Amics de la Boccia) in BC3.

In the BC4 category, Amparo Baixauli, Ana Rangel (from Amics de la Boccia) and Mª Carmen Fernández (Empleo Aspe) will compete for the first place of the final classification.

Moreover, this season has entered the competition a new playing division, the BC5 category, which integrates athletes with physical disability and cerebral paralysis, giving them a sportive option in the field of the competition.

The league continues on 11 March with the team and pairs session BC3 at the sports pavilion of the Universitat Politècnica of Valencia.

FESA together with Sport Clubs, referee and collaborators enable once again the Boccia League of the Valencian County to be a national benchmark.

Ahead of the curve is the final phase of this competition, the Spanish Children’s Championship and the Spanish Championship by Clubs.
