Agustín Domingo Moratalla, new president of the European Bussines Ethics Network (EBEN)

The full university professor of Moral and Political Philosophy of the University of Valencia Agustín Domingo Moratalla has been elected new president of the European Business Ethics Network (EBEN). The annual assembly was held in Cádiz on 7, 8 and 9 June.

In the Andalusian city was also held the 30th congress of the organisation, with the title ‘Ethics and sustainability. A necessary pairing for achieving the SDGs’, and counting with the sponsorship of Unicaja and the University of Cádiz.

Agustín Domingo Moratalla studied at the Comillas Pontifical University, he was an intern at the Oriol-Urquijo Foundation, Fellow Hoover at the Catholic University of Leuven and he has conducted stays in several international centres (Catholic University of America, Boston College, Fonds Ricoeur). He has been full university undergraduate professor and person responsible of the Chair of the Pontifical University of Salamanca.

In his teaching and research trajectory, he has implemented the degrees of Journalism (Pontifical University of Salamanca) and Political Science (CEU Cardinal Herrera University). He is principal investigator in several national and international projects related to the application and development of ethics in organisations. He is accredited assessor of the EFQM and collaborator of agencies such as ANECA, AVAP and AVEPRO. He has been awarded five six-year research fellowships and his lines of research are the ethics of the professions, applied ethics and contemporary ethics. He is a member of the Jacques Maritain International Institute and Emmanuel Mounier Institute.

In his transfer and innovation trajectory his commitment in the enforcement of Ethics to the public administrations and civil society stands out. This has granted him positions such as managing director of the Familia, Menor y Adopciones en la Generalidad Valenciana (2001-2003); vice-president of the Ethics Committee of the Hospital Clínico; principal of the Menéndez Pelayo International University in Valencia (2013-2020); trustee of several foundations (Pluralismo y Convivencia, Escuela Viva, Ángel Herrera, Cáritas, Semanas Sociales, Abat Oliba-CEU).

Domingo Moratalla has received several national awards and prizes (Instituto Juventud, Manos Unidas) and is a regular contributor to Las Provincias, part of the Vocento group. Member and local secretary of ACdP of Valencia, among his latest publications, there are Ciudadanía activa y religión (Encuentro 2011), Educación y Redes sociales (Encuentro 2013), El arte de cuidar (Rialp, 2013), Ética de la Investigación (Herder, 2017), Condición humana y ecología integral (PPC, 2018), Del hombre carnal al hombre digital (Teell, 2021); Homo curans: el coraje de cuidar (Encuentro, 2022).
