Àngels Grimalt, from the Universitat de València, best speaker at the University Debate League of the Vives Network

Àngels Grimalt, from the University of Valencia, has been chosen as the best speaker of the University Debate League of the Vives Network held at the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU. The team of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona has become the winner of the speech competition.

Àngels Grimalt, born in Ondara (the Marina Alta), is studying the second year of her degree in Sociology at the Universitat de València.

Together with Adrià Mompó, Abril Peidró, Joan Antoni Burguet and Sergio Lara, formed the team that represented the Universitat de València, accompanied by Professor Andreu Sentí.

Participation in the University Debate League is promoted by the Information and Promotion Service for Students (Sedi), which manages the League at the Universitat de València and, previously, has organised the local league in which more than thirty students who had been divided into eight teams participated and who have been trained in the course "Let's talk in public". This course is organised every year to prepare the teams, this year it has been carried out with the teacher Sandra Montserrat and the teachers Joan Nave and Andreu Sentí.

This was the 15th edition of the University Debate League, an initiative of the Vives Network with the support of the Government of Catalonia and the Valencian Government that aims to promote the communicative skills and critical spirit of the student.  Last week, also at the UAO CEU, the Secondary School Debate League of High School was held, a competition that has attracted more than 5,000 students and 300 teachers from 179 institutions in Andorra, Catalonia and the Valencian Country.

The jury was composed of politicians, advocates, jurists, teachers and experts in public speaking and communication.
