Conference by the meteorologist Mònica López in the Faculty of Mathematics

Mònica López, chief of Department of Weather Forecast of Televisión Española (TVE) will give the conference ‘Si no llueve, lloverá’ (If doesn’t rain, then it will rain). It will take place next Friday 17 February, at 12am in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences. The talk belongs to the 50th anniversary celebrations of Mathematical Sciences in the Universitat de València.

The conference given by Mònica López is part of the series ‘Como nos ven: las Matemáticas desde el otro lado’.

Mònica López Moyano has a degree in Physics in the University of Barcelona and is specialised in Theoric Physics and Cosmos. Apart from being a good communicator of weather forecast with more than 20 years of expertise, she is the chief of the Department of Weather in TVE since 2008. She also manages and hosts the slot El Tiempo at night in TVE-1. Furthermore, she is the chairwoman of the Asociación de Comunicadores de Meteorología (ACOMET) and teaches some courses related to meteorology and communication and verbalization. She has a master’s degree in Political Analysis by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.  

In recent years, she has focused on meteorology, especially in issues about severe weather when the self-protection measures for citizens are essential to protect their lives.
