The conference ‘Valencia Silk’s Museum’ will inaugurate the new edition of the Museums Management Diploma

Germán Navarro, professor of medieval history of the University of Zaragoza and director of the Scientific Commitment of Silk Museum’s of Valencia, will be the one who inaugurates the 16th edition of the Artistic Education and Museums Management Specialization Diploma through the conference that he will offer with the tittle ‘Silk’s Museum of Valencia’. The event, which will be open to the public, will take place next Friday 10th of November at 19 pm in the Foundation ADEIT University-Company of the University of Valencia.
The conference will be about the reality of the building and the history of the Silk Major Art School, an institution that «has kept the activity and the documentation of this important historic and cultural heritage» from its beginning. The recent rehabilitation of the building has helped to recover this reality that incorporates cultural, artistic, historical, educational and economical aspects; therefore Valencia has become a tourist destination. The building was declared as a Historical Monument in 1981 and it was on 1995 when it got the recognition of a permanent Collection of Museums. In 2016 it opened to the public as the Silk Museum.
The diploma, whose directors are Roman de la Calle, who is the president of the Real Academy of Fine Arts San Carlos, and Ricard Vicent Huerta, who is teacher of the Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Body Expression Department of University of Valencia, has a large academic trajectory and has been awarded with some distinctions. Moreover it was «the seed» for the constitution of AVALEM (the Valencian Association of Educations in Museums and Patrimonies) that is a pioneer entity and really active in the current panorama of associations and demands of the collective of cultural mediation.
«Museums have become a cultural referent; they are really representative entities nowadays. A educational turn has happened so it has fostered new interests and practices, in that way it is convenient to cover the educational needs of museums though forming mediators», the diploma’s directors say. This diploma has the objective for preparing adequately the professionals that will manage the teaching cabinets of the museums and updating the knowledge of the ones who are working in this area nowadays. Through this course, the students will learn how to develop strategies and how to generate new attitudes and educational values to have a versatile professional in the culture area.
