The institutional ceremony, on the occasion of 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, that the Universitat de València carries out, will begin with the reading of the institutional manifesto by the Principal Esteban Morcillo on Thursday 23 November at 6.30 p.m. in the Aula Magna of La Nau Cultural Centre. Afterwards, the principal will announce the call of the IV Prize 'Olga Quiñones Fernández', to the best Degree final Project, Master’s Degree Final Project and doctoral theses that incorporate the gender perspective and that deal with gender equality.

At 6:45 pm, Marisa Soleto, president of the Women Foundation, will give a lecture on the custody of abusers. The reality existing in Spain regarding this issue, presents appalling data since the suspension or withdrawal of custody to accused of maltreatment or even condemned for gender violence are almost residual.

Next, and in cooperation with the International Medium-length Festival ‘La Cabina’, it will be screening Fifty Rupees only and a subsequent colloquium will be held with its director Nagore Eceiza. While Bollywood films feed the imagination of young Indian people by means of projections of wonderful and passionate love stories, the reality of many of these young people is very different. Their parents will decide their fate with the SAGAI: a ceremony, a contract in which they will engage their children with their future spouse that they probably do not even know and with whom they will marry once they have reached the age of majority or even before. Where is love, beyond the movies?

Gathering on 24 November at 12 a.m.
In spite of bringing forward the institutional act to the 23 November in La Nau, on 24 November gatherings of 5 minutes of silence for the victims of gender violence have been called at 12 a.m. in the three campus of the UV. The three meeting points for the 5 minutes of silence are the doors of the office of the principal in the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, the Faculty of Economics of the Tarongers Campus and in front of the café of the Burjassot Campus. Purple and black colours aim to make visible the social scourge of gender violence.
