The ProspectCV 2030 Chair aims to better understand the nature of the ongoing processes in certain essential thematic areas such as population ageing, the climate crisis or policies against depopulation, better understand its effects, and know how to deal with these consequences through comparison analysis and good knowledge of success stories, especially at the regional and local level, and make the best possible verified information available to public and private actors.

This seminar addresses the care crisis as one of the most important challenges for social protection systems. Attention to dependency at the community level has been gaining prominence in recent years, until its recognition as an essential subjective right of European citizenship in the European Pillar of Social Rights. The international action plans (Agenda 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals, the Decade of Healthy Aging, the WHO and the paradigm of active ageing) recall the need to develop municipal policies dedicated to aging people. COVID-19 has placed care and the elderly at the centre of attention of our societies. Municipalities must adapt to the needs of their citizens, thinking about care policies that are innovative and sustainable.

The seminar will present the report, which reflects on the aging of the population and the challenges it poses, with a special focus on women. It analyses the challenges and also the public and private resources for care and living (day centres, nursing homes, cohousing and intergenerational spaces), and highlights priority lines of action from a rights-based approach. In addition, it reviews the municipal strategies in force and shows some examples of good work.

This webinar will be followed by others on Artificial Intelligence and humanity (September 23), tourism and sustainable recovery (September 29 and 30) and the need to establish a better territorial articulation (October 5).
