The Departament of French and Italian of the Universitat de València will celebrate from the 6th until the 8th of May the VI Educational Innovation Conference. This year, the conference will address the renewal of teachers in higher education. The teaching staff and experts in eLearning will share their thoughts on the change of the educational paradigm over the last decades.

The ceremony will be inaugurated on Monday at 9:30 by Amparo Ricós, dean of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication; Ana Ros Caler, vice-dean for Internationalisation and Innovation; Ana Monleón, director of the Department of French and Italian; and Inés Rodríguez, who’s in charge of the organisation of the conference, as well as researcher José V. Romero.

The conference will address the analysis of the transformation of the role of the teaching staff after the introduction of new technologies and new teaching methods. This role change implies moving on from the image of the teacher as the main character of the learning process to the role of facilitator and guide, while the students obtain a more active role, according to Inés Rodríguez, lecturer of the Department of French and Italian, and José Vicente Romero.

This transformation comes from the methodological advances that go with, or without, the incorporation of ICTs in the classroom. The activity schedule of the conference will take place at the Conference Hall Enric Valor of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. For three days, the schedule will consist in a series of conferences, communicative sessions, workshops and round tables.

The conference will welcome more than twenty speakers from the university and teaching sphere. In addition, it is supported by the Lifelong Learning Service and Educational Innovation (SFPIE), the Educational Innovation Network SLATES and the Inter-university Institute for Applied Modern Languages (IULMA) of the Valencian Community.
