The University of Valencia leads the Shanghai Ranking by subjects in Spain in Business Administration, Tourism and Law

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), or Shanghai Ranking by subjects, has confirmed the University of Valencia (UV) among the 50 best in the world in four areas (Remote Sensing, world position 26; and Business Administration, Science and Food Technology and Tourism, all three in place 48). In addition, it is the best in Spain in three areas (Business Administration and also Tourism; and Law, in the 1-2 range). Of the 29 subjects analysed, the University of Valencia is the absolute first in the Valencian area in 20, and in the Spanish area it is the absolute second in two other areas: Atmospheric Sciences and Remote Sensing.

The GRAS ranks the 500 best institutions in the world (TOP500) in 55 subjects distributed in 5 areas: natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. It is published by Shanghai Ranking’s Consultancy and in the case of the University of Valencia, it has been analysed in 29 subjects.

Thus, the University of Valencia stands out at international level, in addition to the aforementioned, in Atmospheric Sciences (world rank 76-100); Physics (101-150); Public Health (101-150); Nursing (151-200) and Law (151-200).

Regarding the state level, the UV is in the first positions of the GRAS ranking in Food Science and Technology (rank 2-3); Public Health (2-3); Education (2-11); Physics (3-4); Clinical Medicine (3-6); Chemistry (3-7); or Environment/Ecology (3-10).

This ranking uses a series of indicators to measure the performance of universities: Q1 (number of publications in influential journals in the first quartile); CNCI (Normalised Citation Impact, ratio between the citations of articles published in a subject and the average number of citations in that subject) or IC (level of international collaboration), among others.
