The UV and the City Council will collaborate in sports matters

The Principal of the University, Esteban Morcillo, and the Sports Counsellor of the City Hall of Valencia, Maite Girau, have signed this Thursday a collaboration agreement which will make it possible to work jointly in sports matters. The agreement will enable the Municipal Sports Foundation and the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences to work together in the organization of events as well as in research.

Both entities agree on the activities of research, training, perfection and updating of the technicians in the physical activities and sports. Moreover, the signature of this agreement allows them to make profitable the means and resources and to coordinate efforts according to the needs in sports matters in Valencia.

In that way, both entities will collaborate in research projects, in the organisation and design of training courses, seminars, congresses or conferences in the different fields related to physical education, sports and sciences applied to human motor skills. They will also work together in the edition and coordination of publications and technical books and in the shared use of the documentary resources (libraries, newspaper and periodicals libraries, video libraries) that the institutions have.

The Sports Foundation of the City Hall manages the municipal sports facilities and organises activity programmes and sports events that take place in the city. Among its competencies, it is the encouragement of the physical activity through the elaboration and execution of plans of sports promotion for the citizenship. Specially, the encouragement of sports at school and the disabled and old people activities. The Municipal Sports Foundation also organises conferences, seminars and publications in sports matters.

For its part, the Universitat de València through its Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences develop training programmes and research in the sports and physical activity field.
