The XXVIII «Estudi General» European Award for the Dissemination of Science has been convened, endowed with 12,000 euros

The University of Valencia (UV) and the Alzira City Council have announced the XXVIII «Estudi General» European Award for the Dissemination of Science, in collaboration with Edicions Bromera, in the framework of the Ciutat d’Alzira awards. The amount of the award is 12,000 euros and the deadline for submission of originals ends on September Friday 16.

The aim of the award is to encourage the production and dissemination of works that, with an understandable language, make available to the general public, and to pre-university students in particular, scientific and technological advances and also the dissemination of interesting aspects of the different areas of knowledge. The winning book will be co-published, in Valencian version, by Edicions Bromera and the UV Publishing Service, within the «Sense Fronteres» collection.

The award is open to essays devoted to popularise scientific and technological knowledge written in Valencian, or any other variant of this language, in Spanish, in English or in French and have a length between 250,000 and 300,000 characters (including spaces). The additional materials in the text must be original, free of rights or contain the required reproduction license. People who have been awarded in previous years are not eligible for this year and, as in the previous edition, texts from undergraduate degree final projects, Master’s degree final projects, doctoral theses and scientific articles will be excluded.

To participate, works can be submitted preferably through the UV virtual office (http://webges.uv.es/uvEntreuWeb), or they can also be handed in paper to the University of Valencia Registry Office (Av. Blasco Ibáñez 13, 46010, Valencia). The Works must be original and unpublished, and Will be judged by the jury anonymously with the following criteria: scientific interest and coherence (up to 3 points), creativity and originality (3), clarity and structure of the text (3 points), and correct use of grammar and spelling (1).

The jury of the year 2022 is formed by Rosa M. Donat, vice-rector of Innovation and Transference and who will preside; Carolina Moreno, director of the «Sense Fronteres» collection; Álvaro Martínez, winner of the 26th edition of this award, the last one awarded; Lucía Hipólito, researcher of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology and Parasitology (UV); and Joaquín Martín Cubas, researcher of the Department of Constitutional Law, Political Science and Administration (UV).

The prize will be awarded on the same date as the rest of the Ciutat d’Alzira awards, on the night of Friday, November 11, 2022, during a literary awards dinner in which winners, in addition to the cash prize will receive the trophy designed by Manuel Boix, symbol of the Ciutat d’Alzira Literary Awards.
