Students from Advanced Vocational Training courses that wish to continue their studies in the UV can apply for credit recognition to take advantage of the education they received. Credit recognition is the process in which a university accepts the credits obtained in other official studies to take part in the academic record and compute for obtaining an official title different to the one the credits come from.
Credit recognition from vocational training to university degree may happen in different situations:
- Direct connexion between the advanced vocational training course and the university degree, which must be reflected in the collaboration agreement between the Valencian Government (GVA) and the five public Valencian universities. Up to 30 ECTS credits may be recognised, in this case, according to the table of equivalences between Advanced Vocational Training and university degrees (access to the tables below).
- The advanced vocational training must be included in the “recognition history” of UV’s faculties and schools. The history is based on previous applications (each recognition table is available below)
- ECTS recognition is also applicable for students that can demonstrate that the contents and competences provided by the advanced vocational training are equivalent to those of the subjects the recognition is applied for. This application will be considered by the Academic Committee for Qualifications of the degree.
How to apply for credit recognition
1. Application
- During the enrolment period, complete the application through the online Service Portal, which is in the Administrative Management section. The application must include the following documentation:
- Official academic certificate which the credits to be recognised come from, specifically of the subjects to be recognised, the academic year, the call in which they were obtained and the grades.
- If the vocational training program is not included in the agreement’s table or the recognition history, the student must provide the course guides and programmes of the course from which the credit recognition will come from.
- It is important to highlight that the student must enrol in the corresponding subjects, since the resolution on credit recognition will be uploaded after the end of the enrolment period. If credit recognition creates a reduction on the enrolment, it can be raised through the ‘Amendment of enrolment’ procedure stablished by the centres.
2. Resolution
- A month after the end of the application period, the Dean or Director of the centre will resolve the request, after informing the academic committee responsible of the official title.
- If the credit recognition is accepted, the credits will be added to the academic record indicating the type, number, the ‘recognition’ tag and the grade obtained. The added credits are used to calculate the final average grade of the academic record.
- Unaccepted or unanswered recognition can be appealed.
3. Public prices
The prices for the request and incorporation of credits to the student’s academic record are stablished by the Valencian Government. They currently are the 25 % of the recognised credits cost.
