Francisco Pérez, research director of the Institute of Economic Research and emeritus professor of the Department of Economic Analysis of the University of Valencia (UV); and Joaquín Aldás, professor of the Department of Marketing and Market Research, have led the U-Ranking, a study on synthetic indicators of the Spanish University System (SUE), aimed at managers and experts in higher education. In the analysis by volumes of this ranking, the UV improves one position compared to 2020.

The U-Ranking is an initiative of the BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute for Economic Research (IVIE) and the presentation of its ninth edition was made public today Thursday at a press conference. This classification analyses 72 Spanish universities, 48 public, and 24 private –two more than the previous edition– and offers a profile of the results of each institution with 20 indicators. With these data, each user can choose studies among some 3,500 evaluated official degrees, which represent 98% of the SUE as a whole.

Thus, in this indicator, the University of Valencia remains first in the Valencian Community and on a Spanish scale it improves one position compared to 2020, so that it goes from the 4-5 (4) range to 3-4 (3). The Complutense University of Madrid (1), the University of Barcelona (2), of Valencia (3-4), of Granada (3-4) and of Seville (5) occupy the top positions.

The U-Ranking offers the performance of each university in the selected degrees, the cut-off marks for the 2020-2021 academic year, the public prices for enrolled credit and information on the employability of the nearly 1,800 degrees with data. It sorts the universities into four groups: U-Ranking; U-Ranking degrees; U-Ranking dimensions and U-Ranking volume. The latter ranks the universities according to their total volume of results, taking into account the combined effect of results and size.
