Ultimate activity

The enrolment period for the physical-recreational activities organised by the Physical and Sports Education Service of the UV is open since last week. It is an appealing way to do sport and physical activity that has drawn the attention of students of the UV to the point of having to hang up the sign “No vacancies” for certain activities, since in just a few hours all available groups were complete.

This applies to activities such as Pilates, Zumba, yoga, muscle chain stretching or spinning, whose groups were filled quickly. Water activities are not far behind. Students are enthusiastic about surfing and windsurfing, so, there are no vacancies available in those groups, especially during the month of October. Dances such as salsa, flamenco and sevillanas have also achieved a high level of participation and their groups were completed in just a few hours.

Enrolment period is currently open

Although some groups are already completed, the Physical Education and Sports Service provides new work groups and the enrolment period remains open.

There are still some places available regarding dances, such as contemporary, oriental (bellydance, bollywood, etc.) and classic dances, especially on the Burjassot Campus. Shiatsu massage is in the same situation as dances, gaining more followers year after year.

The fact that running and fun runs are at the peak of their popularity has boosted the number of runners in the city. Amateurs and professionals who wish to get ready for these events can do so through the UV, thanks to the offer "training for the fun runs", an activity from the Physical Education and Sports Service addressed to students, PDI and PAS who are interested in running or breaking into this field, as well as those wishing to improve their performance or staying healthy. The lessons, given by a track coach graduated in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 20:00 to 21:00, in the tracks located in the section III of Turia Garden.

Teaching, research, administration and services staff may enjoy the benefits from practising these activities and sports right there in the Universitat de València. Like the students, this group may compete in events designed for them, such as tennis and padel, whose enrolment is currently open since 21 September. The competition, which starts on 9 November, will bring together PDI and PAS in a double round-robin system that will delight its participants.

The Physical Education and Sports Service offers around a hundred activities at different times which annually bring together nearly 18,000 participants. Given the large number of participants, some groups will be expanded. Enrolment is currently open through the Online enrolment section of the website of the Physical Education and Sports Service (www.uv.es/sef) until fill the vacancies.
