The Blasco Ibañez Campus facilities of the Universitat de València hosted last Friday afternoon the third edition of the Inclusive Padel Tennis Tournament in the mixed wheelchair-stand-up category, organised by the Divina Pastora Chair of Adapted Sports - Universitat de València (CDPDAUV).
This initiative is intended to contribute to a greater social integration of disabled people by sharing a sports session.
On the third anniversary of the tournament, the Divina Pastora Chair of Adapted Sports - Universitat de València and its partners (the Physical Education and Sports Service and the Federation of Adapted Sports of Valencia) seek to promote and show that it is possible to compete in activities for athletes with and without disabilities.
The tournament started at 16:00 with a round-robin competition system. At the end of the morning, the doubles team made up of Pepe Garcia and Luis Urrutia reached the first place in the tournament. José Vilar and his doubles partner Luís Clavel occupied the second place, and Carlos Sanchís and Maria José Alberola, who got the bronze medal, completed the podium. Other participants were Cristhofer Triviño and Pilar Nieto (fourth); Eusebio Martínez and Rosa Mochales (fifth); and the doubles team made up of Luis Peinado and Lola Gómez, at the bottom of the ranking.
The awards ceremony was attended by José Campos, director of the CDPDAUV and Physical Education and Sports Service of the Universitat de València, and Pilar Nieto, deputy director-general of corporate responsibility at Divina Pastora.
