Great job of the Universitat in the second gathering round of CADU

The women’s football, seven-a-side football and rugby teams of the Universitat de València competed yesterday in the second round of the Regional University Sports Championship (CADU). For these sports, this championship is played in a concentration format composed by various matches against different universities.

After the good results obtained in the first round, the teams faced the halfway point of the league with ambition and enthusiasm. In this occasion, the University of Alicante was in charge of receiving the different teams.

The seven-a-side women’s football team went to the local sports centre in Sant Vicent del Raspeig (Alicante) to compete in the two gatherings held in the event. First rival was the Universitat Politècnica de València. The women’s team led by José Andrés Menchero entered the pitch with decisiveness and they won the match with 5-1. They also won the second match, which was against the Cardenal Herrera-CEU University, with 9-1.

On the other hand, the women’s rugby team went to the sports centre Juan Antonio Samaranch (Alicante), where they played against three teams. The team led by Ana Aignerén played a great role during the whole event, as none of the first two rivals scored any point. They won 35-0 against the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón, and 0-24 against the Catholic University of Valencia. In their last match, which was against the Miguel Hernández University, they won 17-10.

The men’s rugby team of the Universitat de València went to the University of Alacant’s rugby field, where they started the round competing against the team of the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón, winning the match 14-29. After the good job done by the men’s team led by Marcos Armiñana, they competed more encouraged in the second match against the Catholic University of Valencia, and they won 40-5. They played the last match against the host team, the University of Alicante, and they won 0-45.

The teams of the University will rest until after Christmas holidays and the exams period and will go back to the competition in the second semester to play the third round, which will take place the 16 of February at the facilities of the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló.
