
The taekwondo team will dispute the University Spanish Championship between the 7 and the 8 May in Los Alcázeres (Murcia). The Infanta Cristina Centre of High Performance hosts on Saturday the over 180 competitors that through Sunday dispute the women and men championships.
The team of the Universitat de València goes to the event after revalidating the title of autonomic champion some weeks ago with a delegation of 8 athletes: Olga Novillo, which competes in -46 kg; Estefanía Almela in -57 kg; María Cervera in -73 kg; Iván Redondo in 54 kg; Alejandro Cabeza in -58 kg; Jorge Díaz in -68 kg; Andrés Llivisaca in -80 kg and Víctor Mejías in -87 kg.
The coach of the Universitat de València’s team, Karina Reis, comments that the team faces the University Spanish Championship with “great enthusiasm. This year, most of the athletes are young, so we hope this first contact with the National Championships is positive. It will participate a total of 180 competitors and among the favourites we can find the classified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, so it will be a tough competition.”
