The rugby teams from Universitat de València have finished their performance in the III European University Games 2016 with good results. The women´s team got fourth place, and the men´s team got seventh place.

In the first part of mini-leagues, the woman´s team managed to win against University of Porto with a score 5-7, University of Coimbra, 5-21, and University of Zagreb with 5-29. However, it didn´t manage to beat University of Paris, which beat the Valencian team 28-5, nor University of Gloucestershire (7-17). Both teams ended up winning the gold and the silver in the championship (respectively).

With these results, the team led by Ana Aigneren managed to get into semifinals, where their rival was University of Porto with whom they have already competed in the play-offs in a very even match. On this occasion, the Portuguese got a better result, as they won against Valencian players 5-29, and as a result took home the silver medal and left UV´s team with the fourth place.

When it comes to the men´s team, directed by marcos Armiñana, it didn´t begin the competition well, failing against Lisboa with a score 17-14, and against Georgia, 5-24, in the first part of the competition. Last Wednesday, they managed to beat University of Šiauliai with a score 29-14 and on Thursday they played in the quarter-finals against University of Zagreb, a match which the Croatians won with 7-12, depriving UV´s team the opportunity to fight for the medals any further. Finally, Universitat de València´s team competed for 7th and 8th place with University of Šiauliai, against which it had played in the play-offs. UV´s team was bold and left the scoreboard with a 0-24 result in its favor, which granted them 7th place.
