
The Karate team of the Universitat de València participated between 12 and 13 May, in the Spanish University Karate Championship were they achieved the third position and the Championship’s bronze trophy for the team category.
The UV team travelled to Murcia to face the national event with a total of nine players among which we could highlight Aura Csongradi, who got a silver in kumite -61kg; Noelia Sierra, who got another silver in kumite -68kg and Inma Peris and Fernando Piñango, who got a bronze for Kata. Additionally, Sara Piñango and Rafa Gaspar also got good reults, finishing in fifth position for kumite -61kg and +84kg respectively.
With these results, the team trained by Arturo Olmedo achieved to get to the podium and get the bronze in the team category after the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. For the coach “it is a result to feel proud of, it is the third year in a row that we get to the podium in the university category even though the team has been renovated year after year. Some of our best competitors have already finished their studies at the Universitat, so I am very happy about the team’s performance”.
