The University begins to send material to the schools devastated by the floods

The faculties of Primary School Education, Pharmacy, and Philosophy and Education Sciences, as well as the Science Park, has started the initiative to recollect and send material to the schools devastated by the floods. The action has achieved to collect materials given by educational institutions, councils and individuals, that, once classified, have begun to be distributed by the affected schools.
The initiative was made public through social media and has been heard by different territories from all Spain and European countries. The Faculty has transformed into a recollecting and classification of material centre, that now has began to reach the schools in need.
“The Dean team from Primary School Education though about how they could they help better to ease the effects from the disaster and it’s been that they are specialized in: helping the school centres”, say from the centre. “Therefore, and with the approbation of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life, and in coordination with the delegate of the Principal for Cooperation, we organize the recollection of school material for the affected centres”, they indicate. A call to the students, PDI and PTGAS, was made to make turns all along the week from the 11 to the 15 November. The answer was massive, and after stablishing the infrastructure (news about this in our social media and website), delivery point of materials, triage and classification point and storage zone, on Monday, 11 November they started to deliver.
“The answer was impressive (on Tuesday we had more than 50 material boxes collected). Moreover, a lot of associations, councils and schools from all over Spain have called, also from France and Germany, to offer their help and send us material”, says the Vice-Dean María Alcantud. “estate cars are getting here full with school material with which we are able to cover the necessities of the educative centres that have made contact with us our with the office of the Vice-Principal”, she adds.
The centres more affected by the floods have been the ones from Preschool and Primary, because they are in the lower floors. The requested material, and that is still being collected and sent, is composed by pens, A4 cardboards, thin and thick crayons, white sheets, rubbers, glue, scissors, pencils, colour sheets, finger-paint, paintbrushes, clay... What's more, sensorial stimulation material, furniture and simple toys, like iris Waldorf arcs, kinetic sand, bicycles of all sizes, wood cots, plastic wheelbarrows for the sandbox, cleaning toys material, plastic huts for the playground, cause-effect toys, like musical and light toys. Finally, medical consultation games, cooking games, board games, books, stories, folding mattresses for children gymnastic activities, small rectangular individual mattresses, sport material, sensorial material (texture balls, tape, etc.), plastic motorcycles, dolls, translucent construction blocks, shovel, barrels, rakes...
